Sylvia Golden

Ms. Golden's practice focuses primarily on representing clients in connection with regulatory investigations and criminal corruption cases. She recently worked on the successful defense of a client in a high profile Foreign Corrupt Practices Act case. Ms. Golden also was instrumental in successfully defending a client against ethics charges leveled against a firm client in a matter that spanned over nearly a decade.

Born and raised in Germany, Ms. Golden received her bachelor's degree summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia University (School of General Studies) in Middle East Studies and her law degree from Berkeley Law School (Boalt Hall). She also holds a master's degree from New York University in Near East Studies.

Before joining the firm, Ms. Golden practiced for almost seven years as an immigration attorney at Minami Tamaki LLP in San Francisco. Her corporate clients included major Silicon Valley corporations, including Google, as well as a host of smaller companies and individuals. In that capacity, she interacted with an array of people from around the world.

Before pursuing a legal career, Ms. Golden worked in the field of international human rights. She was the Program Coordinator for the writers' group, PEN American Center, in New York, where she investigated and published on freedom-of-expression issues around the world. She also prepared various country and case studies for Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International.

Ms. Golden is currently a member of the State Bar of California and is fluent in German and English and conversant with French and Italian.
